TMC Transportation
TMC had been managing their hundreds of workloads using on-prem VMWare clusters but had a vision to move to serverless cloud architectures in the future in order to increase their business agility and speed of innovation.
TMC selected Source Allies as their partner on this cloud migration journey. In addition to Cloudamize, our team leveraged the AWS Application Discovery Service to provide visibility into application dependencies in order plan migration waves with high confidence that we were identifying cohesive workload groupings. We partnered together for the rapid migration of hundreds of servers to an initial layover in VMWare Cloud for AWS before moving workloads to native AWS services, including: AWS Cognito, Lambda, Redshift, RDS, ECR and ECS.
The rapid migration to VMWare Cloud for AWS allowed TMC to leverage existing skillsets in VMWare, while the entire IT staff was upskilling with new infrastructure as code tooling and processes. This allowed TMC to realize more immediate cost savings with the option to decommission disastery recovery locations on an accelerated basis. TMC also began to realize results on par with the rest of the transportation and logistics industry that has moved to AWS: 33% increase in VMs per admin, 12% decrease in incidents per month, 41% decrease in mean time to resolution, 43% reduction in time to market and 240% increase in code deploy frequency. Our work with TMC represents the largest greenfield migration in AWS' history.
Athene
Athene identified the need to modernize its infrastructure and continue it's migration to the cloud. Athene's objectives included cost savings, staff productivity, operational resilience and business agility.
Athene chose to partner with Source Allies for their cloud migration and during disocvery, nearly one thousand virtual machines were identified via Cloudamize for migration to AWS. Leveraging AWS resources like Aurora PostgreSQL resulted in significantly reduced risk, accelerated migrations, and most of all, freedom to innovate.
Athene realized significant value by removing annual license fees from large software vendors. More importantly, Athene started to realized the business agility objectives of 80% reduction in software R&D times, time to lauch digital campaigns and overall time to market for new products and features.
